Abstract:
This paper presents a new method for faults classification of HVDC system by analyzing the currentsand voltages of the system under the Zero-Direct-Quadrature (DQ0) coordinates using Lab color chromatic basedmonitoring approach. Repeated for several healthy and faulty scenarios in DC side and AC side as well, The DQ0transformed signals are evaluated for each case, Continuous chromatic monitoring is applied on all signals. Achromatic Lab mapping of short time-slot windows result in providing an early fault detection. The preliminaryresults show high accuracy in fault type classification as well with short processing time and without the need forany pretraining requirement.
