Abstract:
Extended Nernst-Planck equation was used to describe the separation of ions by using Nanofiltration membrane, where the separation is a result of concentration, electrical and pressure gradients across the membrane. Ceramic Nanofiltration was used to study the effect of a cation and an anion on the separation behaviour. To understand the separation behaviour of ions from single salt solution and mixed salts solutions, a model was built to simulate the separation behaviour of a mixture of two, three, and four ions. The used ions in the model were Mg2+, Na1+, Cl1- and SO42-.
