Abstract :

This study aimed to reveal the degree of prevalence of pathological fears among a sample of adolescents in Amman, the capital. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire consisting of (38) items was developed A questionnaire consisting of (38) items was developed to achieve the study's objectives, and its validity and reliability were confirmed. The study followed the descriptive-analytical approach, and the study sample consisted of (400) adolescents, which who were selected randomly,; a set of (370) copies of the questionnaire valid for statistical analysis were retrieved with a percentage of (92.5%). The study used a set of statistical methods means, standard deviations, and Alpha Cronbach. The results of the study showed that the respondents have a medium degree of estimates about the types of pathological fears and that the arithmetic averages of the respondents' estimates assessments of the degree of prevalence of phobias among a sample of adolescents in the capital, Amman, have a moderate degree at the overall level. Considering the results of the study results, a set of recommendations were suggested, including holding seminars and social and academic activities through which adolescents acquire traits and skills that enhance self-confidence and provide them with social support.
