Abstract

This study seeks to determine the obstacles that encounter women to access the senior positions in the travel and tourism companies in Jordan from the viewpoint of employees, besides identify the types of constraints and difficulties they encounter. This study is an explanatory analytic one since it adopts the methodology of data collection and analysis to findthe results. The researcher has distributed 200 forms of the survey where 170 forms have been retrieved while the researcher excluded 20, so 150 forms have been subject to analysis. Participants were male and female employees of travel and tours companies in Jordan who represented the population and sample of the study. This study aims at answering the following questions: 1. What is the degree of women access to the senior managerial positions in the travel and tours companies from the viewpoint of employees?2. Are there any statistically significant difference in the obstacles against women access to the senior managerial positions in the tours and travel companies in Jordan due to the gender, age, marital status and qualificationvariables? The study found that female employees were more sensitive to the administrative obstacles against women access to the managerial positions than male employees, where there are no differences in social and psychological obstacles due to gender variable.
