Abstract :

The aim of the present study is to investigate the power and efficiency of the chi-square test for goodness-of-fit (GOF) based on ranked set sampling (RSS), a sampling technique introduced by McIntyre [11]. This test is applied for Laplace distribution or double exponential distribution. Moreover, a simulation study to compare the efficiency of the chi-square test based on an RSS with its counterpart in a simple random sampling (SRS) is conducted. The chi-square test is found to be more powerful under selective order RSS when compared to SRS, particularly for minimum and maximum. However, for the case of median RSS, the test is found to be more powerful under SRS.
