ABSTRACT:

Numerical simulation study of heat transfer over a bank of tubes is presented.Staggered arrangement is modeled using computational fluid dynamics (CFD)software FLUENT. The computational model is simulated to predict the averageNusselt number for different wall heat flux and inlet air velocity. To validate thesimulated results a comparison with an existing experiment is presented. In-line andstaggered arrangement of the tube bank is modeled to study the effect of these twoarrangements on heat transfer rate from the tubes. Analytical and simulation is usedto predict the performance of both arrangements. Nusselt number, heat transfercoefficient and heat transfer rate results from CFD are compared with that fromanalytical solution. A good agreement is found from the comparison. Also, acomparison between compact and wide tube bank is presented. (PDF) Investigation of heat transfer for staggered and in-line tubes.
