ABSTRACT:

This study presents an evaluation of the effects of electrical energy on the mostimportant properties of low carbon steel such as yield strength, ultimate strength,hardness, and impact strength. These properties are the most important parameters ofdesign and manufacturing of machine parts and structures. A36 is one of the lowcarbon steels which are widely used in different industries. The chemical compositionof this steel includes carbon between0.17 and 0.2 (% wt).Present work focuses on therelationship between the change of mechanical properties of steel and electricalpower passing through its products. Experiments show that increasing current orvoltage passing through products made of this type of steel results in decreasing oftheir mechanical properties.
