Abstract: The aim of the current study was to investigate the relationship between the level of educational counselor perceived self-efficacy and social responsibility in Karak Governorate. While some prior studies have studied perceived self-efficacy and social responsibility and others have studied them as related constructs, empirical studies on the relationship between perceived self-efficacy and social responsibility among educational counselors are scarce especially in Jordanian schools.Knowing this relationship is crucial because both of these constructs are closely linked to the quality of counseling services and professional performance of counselors. This study used descriptive-correlational research design. The study sample included 171 educational counsellors in schools in Karak Governorate. These scales were psychometrically developed and used to collect data – Perceived Self-Efficacy Scale and Social Responsibility Scale. The reliability internal consistency was satisfactory with the Cronbach alpha coefficient ranging from .85 to .91. The study goals were addressed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate analyses. The results showed a significant positive correlation between perceived self-efficacy and social responsibility (r = .817, p < .001). The gender, education and experience significantly affected self-efficacy as perceived by the participants, specifically for the dimensions of professional and mental competence. Moreover, some measures of social responsibility varied as a function of years of experience. While causal inferences are not possible, While no conclusions can be drawn, the results imply that more educational counsellors perceive themselves to have higher levels of social responsibility as their levels of self-efficacy increase. The results of these findings suggest the need for counselor training and professional development in individual's efficacy and socially responsible professional practice.
