Measuring reading skills within memory and comprehension levels and applicable to the students of teacher of English at the University of Mutah
Abstract
This study is aimed at measuring the reading skill of senior English language field students at Mu’tah University during the academic year 2000/2001.The sample comprised (47) students .The researcher designed (28) multiple-choice items which were submitted to a jury of specialists. The results show that (34) students ( 72%) were excellent at the level of recalling , whereas (5) students (10%) were very good and the lowest grade was (3 ) (2.1%). At the comprehension level (2) (4.2%) students scored excellent, the lowest frequency was (2). At the application level no students scored excellent or very good, whereas(4) students(8.5%) scored the highest grade(7). The study addresses some recommendations that concern specialists in the field.
