The degree of the student teacher in the science education program for educational competencies necessary for teaching Islamic education in primary

Abstract

The study is aimed at identifying the degree of student/teacher practice in practical education program of the teaching competencies for teaching Islamic education course in the basic stage.

The sample of the study consisted of all students (field-teacher) /Islamic Education who were enrolled in practical education program in the two universities: Jordan University and Yarmouk University (73) male and female students.

To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher prepared and developed a special questionnaire consisted of (62) items as indications for practicing the competency divided into eight domains of competencies: planning, teaching the Holly Quran, Teaching Hadeeth, Teaching Aqeeda (Faith), Teaching fiqh (Jurisprudence), Teaching Prophet biography, Classroom Management and teaching, and evaluation. The researcher also verified and validated the reliability of the results.

The results of the study showed that:

1. The percentage of respond for all domains of the competencies in identifying the student/teacher practice in teaching Islamic Education is (80%) which is a high degree.

2. The highest percentage of respond in domain of the competency comparing all competencies in teaching Prophet Biography is (84%) which is a high degree.

3. The lowest percentage of respond in domain of the competency comparing all competencies in teaching Fiqh (Jurisprudence) is (76%) which is fair.

In the light of the results, the researcher recommends that there is a necessity of training student/teacher in Practical Education Programs on competencies performance for teaching Aqeeda (Faith), Fiqh (Jurisprudence), Hadeeth, competencies on planning and evaluation. Also to provide schools with resources and books for teaching the Islamic Education course.
