Performance Anxiety in English Language among Jordanian Postgraduate Students: Communication Discourse Perspective
ABSTRACT :
The goal of this paper was to investigate performance anxiety amongst Jordanian postgraduate students studying Applied Linguistics at Mu`tahUniversity.
Also this paper intended to explore the levels of performance anxiety amongst Jordanian postgraduate students when communicating in English language and what is the connection between the students‟ major, age and performance anxiety.
The sample of this study included 40 postgraduate students at Mu‟tah University.
This paper included a questionnaire survey, personal report of performance anxiety in order to measure performance anxiety levels within varied situations include groups, meetings, dyads and public speaking.
The findings of this research indicated that Jordanian postgraduate students at Mu‟tah University possessed high levels of performance anxiety.
Also the findings revealed that there is a positive connection between performance anxiety, age and students‟ major.
